What is SUD Life YUVA Smart Term?

SUD Life YUVA Smart Term is a term life insurance plan available to all individuals looking for financial protection at an attractive premium. The plan provides life cover to an individual, and the death benefit is payable if the Life Assured dies during the policy term, as per the option chosen.

The policyholder chooses the base Sum Assured, the Premium Payment Term (PPT), the Policy Term (PT) and the Life Stage Upgrade option at the time of buying this product. The premium is calculated on the age at entry, gender, base Sum Assured, Policy Term, Premium Payment Term, smoking status and other factors such as the source of income, that is whether salaried or not, and whether the insurance is being bought for the first time or by an existing SUD Life policyholder.

On death of the Life Assured during the policy term, and provided the policy is in force, the death benefit is the highest of 10 times the Annualised Premium, 105% of Total Premiums Paid as on the date of death, or the absolute amount assured to be paid on death, which is the base Sum Assured selected at inception plus the incremental Sum Assured approved under the Life Stage Upgrade, if any. The death benefit is reduced by the total premiums falling due and unpaid, if any, during the grace period in which death occurs.

The death benefit is paid as per the payout option chosen by the policyholder at inception, which can be changed at any time during the policy term. Under Lump Sum, the death benefit is paid in lump sum immediately. Under Monthly Income, a Monthly Income Benefit of 1% of the death benefit is paid every month for a fixed period of 125 months. Under Lump Sum plus Monthly Income, 50% of the death benefit is paid as lump sum immediately and a Monthly Income Benefit of 0.50% of the death benefit is paid every month for a fixed period of 125 months.

On survival of the Life Assured to the end of the policy term, no benefit is paid and the contract ceases. The policy does not acquire Reduced Paid Up status on non-payment of premium, and no surrender benefit is available. No riders are available under this product.

How Does the SUD Life YUVA Smart Term Work?

    1.Choose Your Cover and Term

At inception, the policyholder selects the base Sum Assured, the Premium Payment Term and the Policy Term from the options available under the plan, along with the Life Stage Upgrade option.

2.Choose the Death Benefit Payout Option

The policyholder chooses, at inception, how the death benefit is to be paid: Lump Sum, Monthly Income, or Lump Sum plus Monthly Income. This payout option can be changed at any time during the policy term.

    3.Pay Your Premium

Premiums are payable yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly for the Premium Payment Term chosen. The premium is based on the age at entry, gender, base Sum Assured, Policy Term, Premium Payment Term, smoking status and other factors such as the source of income, first time purchase of insurance or an existing SUD Life policy. Applicable discounts are applied to the premium.

4.Increase Your Cover on a Life Stage Event

If the Life Stage Upgrade option was opted for at inception, the policyholder may apply for an incremental Sum Assured within six months of a specified life stage event and before the Life Assured attains age 50. This option is available for Regular Pay policies only and an additional premium is charged for the incremental Sum Assured.

    5.Payment of the Death Benefit

On death of the Life Assured during the policy term, and provided the policy is in force, the company shall pay the death benefit as the highest of 10 times the Annualised Premium, 105% of Total Premiums Paid as on the date of death, or the absolute amount assured to be paid on death. It is paid as per the payout option in force, after deduction of the total premiums falling due and unpaid during the grace period, if any.

No. SUD Life YUVA Smart Term is a pure term plan. On survival of the Life Assured to the end of the Policy Term, no benefit is paid and the contract ceases.

As per the payout option chosen by the policyholder at inception, which can be changed at any time during the policy term. Under Lump Sum, the death benefit is paid in lump sum immediately. Under Monthly Income, 1% of the death benefit is paid every month for a fixed period of 125 months, starting from the next policy month anniversary following the date of death. Under Lump Sum plus Monthly Income, 50% of the death benefit is paid as lump sum immediately and 0.50% of the death benefit is paid every month for the same fixed period of 125 months. If the beneficiary later wants the future outstanding monthly income as a lump sum, the remaining monthly income is discounted at 4.75% p.a. and no further benefit is payable.

Yes, if you opted for the Life Stage Upgrade option at inception and the policy is a Regular Pay policy. The upgrade can be exercised within six months of the life stage event and before the Life Assured attains age 50, provided the policy is in force with all due premiums paid, the outstanding Policy Term or Premium Payment Term is at least 10 years, and the policy was issued at standard rates with no extra mortality premium. An additional premium is charged, and the total incremental Sum Assured is limited to 100% of the base Sum Assured.

It is a one-time lump sum equal to 100% of Total Premium Paid till the date of exercising the option, refunded after deducting applicable GST, payable if you choose to exit the policy before the end of the policy term and all premiums due have been paid. It can be exercised at attained age 60, 61 and 62, the policy must be in force, the Policy Term chosen at inception must be at least 40 years, the age last birthday at maturity must be at least 70 years, and the Life Stage Upgrade Sum Assured must not have been exercised. Once it is paid, the policy terminates and no further benefits are payable.

You get a grace period of 15 days where premiums are paid monthly and 30 days in all other cases. If the premium is not paid within the grace period, a Regular Premium policy lapses. For a Limited Premium Payment Term policy, the policy lapses and the Policy Cancellation Value is payable provided the first two consecutive policy years' full premiums have been paid. The plan also offers the Extended Protection Period feature, subject to its conditions.

Yes. You can revive a lapsed policy within five years from the due date of the first unpaid premium by giving a written request to the company with proof of continued insurability, paying the outstanding premium amount with the applicable interest rate, and fulfilling all medical and financial requirements as required by the Company as per the Board approved underwriting policy (the cost of medical examination, if any, will be borne by you, i.e. the policyholder/Life Assured). The company reserves the right to accept or reject the revival. Once revived, all benefits are restored to the original benefit levels, and any due and unpaid benefit shall be paid immediately.

The only exclusion is the suicide clause described above. There are no other exclusions.

If you disagree with any of the terms or conditions in the policy, you have the option to return the policy to us within 30 days from the date of receipt of the policy document. In this case we will return the premium paid less proportionate risk premium for the period on cover, expenses incurred by us on medical examination, if any, and stamp duty charges.
